Automatic translation for parents

With the «Automatic translation» module, parents read the school's content in their own language. You keep writing in German, the platform translates.

What is translated

Events, announcements, info pages, requests and emails are translated for parents whose account is set to a language other than German. Parents choose their language under «Family and account» → «Language». Twelve languages are available, including Portuguese, Albanian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Tigrinya and Arabic.

What parents see

Above translated content they see «Automatically translated» with the link «Show original». From there, «Show translation» leads back. In a translated email, the translation comes first and the original below it.

If a language cannot be translated or your plan's monthly quota is used up, the original appears.

Switching it on

In «Administration», open the «Modules» page.
Tick «Automatic translation».
Read the notice on data processing and confirm with «Read; the school agrees.»
Tap «Save modules».

Data protection

The texts of events, announcements, info pages and requests are sent to a translation service, as are emails to parents with another language. The service is listed among the subprocessors. So do not put personal data such as children's names into these texts.

Each translation is stored and only redone when the text changes. Anything not used for 180 days is deleted.
