Importing families from Excel

You take over families and children from an Excel list. The import is in the setup wizard (step 4) and in the administration.

How it works

  1. Tap «Download Excel template» and fill in the list: one row per child. Delete the example row.
  2. Choose the file under «Excel file (.xlsx)» and tap «Check file».
  3. You see a «Preview»: how many rows are ready, how many new families will be created, and for each child «new» or «will be updated». Nothing is saved yet.
  4. Rows with errors are listed at the top, each with the reason. Correct them in the file and upload it again with «Upload another file».
  5. Tap «Import … rows». Rows with errors are left out.

What goes into the list

Leave the column headings of the template unchanged; they are in German. Each row needs the child's first and last name, the class and at least one parent's email address. Write the class for example as «2. Kindergarten», «4. Primar», «1. Oberstufe» or as a number from 1 to 11. Give the birthday as DD.MM.YYYY.

Only an .xlsx file of up to 5 MB is accepted. If you have a CSV list, open it in Excel and save it as .xlsx.

Siblings and a second import

Siblings with the same parent addresses end up in the same family. A second import of the same list creates no duplicates: Ufzack recognises existing families by their email address and updates the children's class and birthday.

Parent accounts

The box «Activate new parent accounts right away so parents can sign in» is ticked in advance. The import itself sends no emails. How parents get their access is explained in Inviting parents.

During the trial period the number of families is limited. More families can be added once you have chosen a plan.
